Major sperm protein

چکیده

What is it? Major sperm protein, commonly referred to as MSP, is the centerpiece of the motility machinery that propels the crawling movement of nematode sperm. MSP was originally identified in Caenorhabditis elegans, but has since been found in sperm from several other species of nematode. The name derives from the abundance and cellular specificity of the 14 kDa protein: MSP makes up 15–20% of the total protein in nematode sperm, but is not found in any other cell type in the worm.

P-68: Adipkines Play Major Roles in Sperm Motility and Function in Ram

Background: Adipose tissue is not only an energy storage tissue but also an important endocrine organ that secretes protein hormones. Among them, the production and secretion of adiponectin is inversely correlated to the severity of obesity. In adipose tissue, adiponectin production is transcriptionally regulated by peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ (PPAR-γ). Obesity is a major healt...

A 48 kDa integral membrane phosphoprotein orchestrates the cytoskeletal dynamics that generate amoeboid cell motility in Ascaris sperm.

Protrusion of the lamellipod in the crawling sperm of Ascaris is tightly coupled to the localized vectorial assembly and bundling of the major sperm protein cytoskeleton. In cell-free extracts of sperm, vesicles derived from the leading edge membrane reconstitute protrusion by directing the assembly of columnar meshworks of major sperm protein filaments that push the vesicle forward as they elo...

The major protein of bull seminal plasma: biosynthesis and biological function.

We isolated the major protein of apparent Mr of 15,000-16,000 from seminal plasma as well as from seminal vesicle secretion of bull and proved by amino acid analysis and tryptic peptide mapping that the two proteins were identical. An antiserum against this major protein was employed to quantitate and identify the major protein in seminal plasma as well as seminal vesicle secretion. The antiser...

O-17: Study of Sperm Protein Profile in Oigo- and Normozoospermic Patients with Varicocele Using Two Dimensional Eectrophoresis

Background: The aim of this study was to compare the sperm protein profile between oligo- and normozoospermic patients with varicocele. Materials and Methods: Sperm samples of 20 normozoospermic and 20 oligozoospermic patients with varicocele were characterized using two dimensional electrophoresis (group 1 and group 2, respectively). Differences in protein expression were established using gel...

Two-dimensional electrophoretic profile of human sperm membrane proteins.

The purpose of this study was to characterize highly enriched human spermatozoa membrane proteins by two-dimensional electrophoresis and computer image analysis. Sperm membrane proteins were extracted by detergent solubilization from three different preparations: 1) washed semen cells following centrifugation and three wash steps in Ham's F-10 medium (the standard sperm preparation, which is co...
